So what about if you are in a relationship but the idea of sharing your goals with your partner or coming up with relationship goals together is not happening for whatever reason. Maybe for you the idea of discussing goals of any sort seems pointless because you feel invisible in your relationship and your partner wouldn’t be interested or maybe they would be interested but wouldn’t see the point in discussing it with you.. would just tell you to crack on and get on with it.

So what do you do then? Well I suggest you do just that. Crack on. Understand what you want to achieve, why you want to achieve them and move forward to attain them. The only person that really matters in this situation is You. Because regardless of your family situation or circumstance, you are so good at prioritising everyone else that you likely forget to prioritise yourself. What about your own happiness, needs and goals? Maybe you feel like you haven’t the energy to be thinking about yourself right now and everyone else is more important than you…. Well let me make this really clear to you… You are Important!

You can love and care for everyone else, absolutely, but if you are not loving and caring for yourself  then you are only ever pouring from a half full cup.

So prioritise your own needs, prioritise your own goals and prioritise yourself.

If it makes you feel better to hear this, then know also that if you are looking after yourself, you can look after everyone better too. But that’s not the point. The point is that You matter. You deserve to be able to look after yourself. I don’t know what that looks like to you. I don’t know whether or not that means going out every couple of weeks with your girlfriends, going a Zumba class or a yoga class, or doing a vocational training course to develop your career. whatever it is that you need to do, please prioritise yourself. Because no one else will do it for you and so you need to be practicing self-care.

And once you have it set in your mind what you want to achieve, you will find a way to make it happen. You will be able to action those goals within a realistic time frame once you have a clear idea of what and why you want to achieve.
